Collision Course was a mash up album of songs by both the rapper Jay-Z, and LP. MTV contacted Jay-Z asking for him to find a partner for their next mash up album, and he quickly contacted Shinoda. Over phone and email, they eventually decided to re-record their mash ups, instead of doing it digitally with their original tracks. So the band and Jay-Z redid all of the songs, and then went to the computer to mix and mash it. They eventually came up with 6 tracks, each containing one song from the 2 groups (except track #6). It eventually went on to have 2 singles.
